Illawarra man charged after guns and drugs found in Cringila home

An Illawarra man has been charged after unauthorised firearms were allegedly located in a Cringila home. 

Just after 1.30pm yesterday (Monday 29 October 2018), officers from Strike Force Raptor South served a Firearms Prohibition Order and a Weapons Prohibition Order on a 24-year-old man. 

They searched a home on Lake Avenue, Cringila, where they allegedly located and seized a shortened .22 calibre rifle and ammunition, an air rifle, a gel-ball pistol, and 50g of cannabis.

The man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with possess shortened firearm, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unauthorised firearm, not store firearm safely, possess ammunition, and possess prohibited drug.

He has been refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 30 October 2018).
