The State Government has announced they will double the number of train carriages on the South Coast rail line - on the regions busiest services.
The 3:24pm and 3:54pm weekday service from Central will go from four carriages up to eight carriages, in an attempt to ease overcrowding.
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance says the changes come after hearing from Illawarra commuters.
“In recent years, travel patterns have changed, especially for people who live on the South Coast but work or study in the city,” Mr Constance said.
The new carriages are expected to be up and running by Janurary, in time for locals heading back to work after the holiday period.
