Claims low income families will suffer under budget

Illawarra families on low incomes are expected to be worse off under the Federal Government's second budget - according to new analysis.

The National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling shows the disposable income of the poorest 20% of households with children will drop by about 7% over the next four years.

Throsby MP Stephen Jones says the richest households will see their incomes rise slightly, which doesn't make sense considering a single income family earning $55,000 a year will see a cut of $3,700 this year alone.
