Lake Illawarra police have launched an investigation into exactly what led to a crash in Towradgi, causing a power outage to hundreds of homes.
A Nissan Patrol lost control on Pioneer Road, and plowed into a power pole.
1,600 homes around Towradgi were subsequently left without power for around 2.5 hours.
The 20-year-old driver was trapped for some time, but was eventually released and taken to Wollongong Hospital for minor injuries.
