The teenage boy airlifted from Kelly Falls at Helensburgh yesterday has sadly passed away.
The 16 year old suffered critical head injuries, and was found unconscious, face down in the water.
It's believed he had climbed up a tree but the branch broke, causing him to fall 10 metres.
A paramedic who tried to save him was also injured in the rescue effort.
He suffered a broken ankle, but carried on anyway, working to stablise the boy before he was winched to higher ground.
He was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital, but died overnight.
