Wollongong flagged as potential pilot city for 30km/h speed limits

Wollongong flagged as potential pilot city for 30km/h speed limits

There's a push to implement 30 kilometre per hour speed limits on local roads around Wollongong.

Healthy Cities Illawarra, 30please.org and Safe Streets to Schools have prepared a joint submission for the New South Wales Department of Treasury.

It's for an Active Transport Pilot Project to receive State Government funding and make Wollongong a pilot city for connected safe routes to school.

The $10 million proposal would see reduced speed limits, increased crossing and footpaths on all roads within two kilometres of schools to support a safer environment for children to walk, cycle and commute.
