Wollongong Council exploring e-bike opportunities

Wollongong Council will begin seeking expressions of interest for providers who want to participate in an e-scooter and e-bike scheme.

The NSW Government is finalising the legal requirements needed to permit a shared e-scooter trial.

Council says they're starting the process now, so they'll be prepared, should Wollongong be given the green light to participate in the trial.

Providers will need to provide detailed documentation about their proposed trial location, and safety and environmental considerations.

Acting Lord Mayor of Wollongong, Tania Brown says given Wollongong is recognised as a UCI Bike City, encouraging the use of an e-bike shared scheme makes sense.

The EOI for the Wollongong Shared Micromobility Scheme will open next week through Council’s e-tendering portal.

Should Council find an appropriate provider, it's hoped the scheme will be up and running by September.
