A man has allegedly struck a woman in the side of the head with a plank of timber before stabbing a man who ran over to help in Mangerton.
The incident occurred yesterday morning, with the 37-year-old man accused of approaching a 29-year-old woman on Myuna Way around 6:50am, and striking her with the timber plank.
A 40-year-old man ran over to assist the woman, but was allegedly stabbed with a large knife above his collarbone.
He ran into a unit and was then stabbed through a glass door.
The 40-year-old man and 29-year-old woman were taken to Wollongong hospital - the man undergoing surgery for lacerations to his head and collarbone.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on Myuna Way and taken to Wollongong police station yesterday, where he was charged with affray, malicious damage, common assault and resist police.
He was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today.
It is believed the man was known to the two victims.
Police inquiries are continuing.
