Three cricketers sent home over ball-tampering scandal

Three cricketers sent home over ball-tampering scandal

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland says only three Aussie players knew of a plan to tamper with the ball in Cape Town.

Steve Smith, Dave Warner and Cameron Bancroft are being sent home from the South African tour, for their roles in the scandal.

Sutherland says their early investigation has found no other player, or support staff was involved.

"This includes Darren Lehmann who, despite inaccurate media reports, has not resigned from his position," said Sutherland.

"He will continue to coach the Australian men's team under his current contract."

Queenslanders Matt Renshaw and Joe Burns, and Victorian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell are on their way to Johannesburg to replace the trio who have been stood down.
