Six volunteer firefighters have been injured while battling the Clyde Mountain fire in Eurobodalla.

NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro has told the ABC their water tanker rolled last night while battling the blaze near Batemans Bay; the group suffering serious injuries.

Some of those injuries are believed to be spinal.

It comes just hours after Three American firefighters were killed while battling a bushfire in the Snowy Mountains.

The C-1-30 Hercules water bomber they were in exploded in a fireball near Cooma last night.

Flags will be flown at half-mast in their honour and their families will be flown into Sydney tomorrow.
