A controversial housing development in South Kiama is a step closer to reality.
The proposal includes 450 new homes for the site west of the Princes Highway.
According to the Department of Planning, independent expert advice has now determined it should be supported.
There are community concerns the proposal will put a strain on Kiama's infrastructure.
The Department's Executive Director of Local and Regional Planning, Malcolm McDonald, says the developer would be required to make a contribution to infrastructure development.
“A develpoment of this narture, there is going to be a need for upgrades to the local network and for some intersection improvements,” said Malcolm.
