i98’s guide to Super Bowl 50

It’s on again, America’s biggest sporting event of the year!

From the on-field action, soon-to-be classic commercials, food, sports betting and halftime time show featuring Coldplay and Beyoncé; there’s something to pique everyone’s interest.

As always in Australia, the big game falls on a seemingly normal summer Monday morning, causing an inconvenience to some would-be viewers.

Whether you have the day off, have a nearby television in your workplace or are flat out pulling a sickie to take in the game; here’s some helpful pointers to best enjoy the 50th instalment of the Super Bowl.

1. Create your game-time availability
For those of us who are required to work on Monday, watch this informative video on how to pull off the perfect Super Bowl sickie.

1a. Modify your work environment

If you're stuck at work, you can live stream SB50 from here: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/superbowl/live/player, however this most probably will require a VPN (if you need help with this, enlist the nerdiest person you know).

2. Pick a location
There’s plenty of venue options around the Gong, mostly offering specials on Coors and Budweiser, as well as hot wings, hot dogs and nachos. You really can’t go wrong.

3. Pick a team
For casual NFL observers, this is your chance to jump on the bandwagon of either the slick hotshot Carolina Panthers or the defensively stacked Denver Broncos.

The Panthers have the flashy ‘dabbing’ quarterback and MVP candidate favourite Cam Newton.

I’m not exactly sure what ‘dabbing’ is, but Newton is darn good at it.

The Broncos are headed by legendary quarterback and TV funny man Peyton Manning, possibly playing in the final game of his career.

Bonus: catch upon the 2015 NFL season in 150 seconds!
